Paper still wins in a gym. You are not unlocking a phone, hunting an app, or losing the set while a notification lands. You write the lift, you do the lift, you write the next one.
A journal also gives you a record you can flip. Last month’s pages show whether the work is moving or whether you have been repeating the same numbers and calling it training.
What belongs on the page
Exercise name, sets, reps, and load or band level. Add a short note only when something matters: a form cue, low energy, or a setup you want to repeat. Skip the essay.
Weekly review, not daily analysis
Once a week, scan the pages. Circle sessions you completed. Star any lift that felt stronger. That ten-minute review is how a log becomes a plan.
